Dear National Movements and Federations of IYCS and IMCS,
World Youth Day 2008 Update
Warm greetings from the International Teams! As many of you would be aware the 2008 WYD which will take place in Sydney Australia is rapidly approaching. The national movements in Australia and the International Teams are working closely together to organize a number of activities which information will be shared about shortly.
In 2005 during the WYD in Cologne the International Teams organized a pilgrimage group of members of the movements and we would like to try and do this again in Sydney!
What does this registration entail?
- We are asking all national movements and individual members who would like to attend World Youth Day with us, to register with us.
- If you are interested in registering with us, please contact your respective international team at mail@iycs-jeci.org for IYCS and office@imcs-miec.org for IMCS before the 31 December 2007.
What are the benefits of registering with IYCS and IMCS?
- By registering with us, you will be sure to be housed with other members of IMCS and IYCS in the world.
- By registering with us, you will have the chance to meet other students and members of your movement from other parts of the world and not be only with people from your country.
- By registering with us, you will have a greater chance to actively participate in the different events of IMCS and IYCS at World Youth Day.
Can IYCS or IMCS help financially?
- Unfortunately, IMCS and IYCS are unable to finically support any of the participants. The World Youth Day office has developed a system of solidarity fees to help lower the registration cost for participants from Africa, Asia and Latin America.
- IMCS and IYCS recognize that World Youth Day is very costly for most of our members.
- We strongly encourage you to be in contact with your diocese and national bishops’ conferences to see if they can suggest any assistance.
- We also urge you to start fundraising now! National movements in wealthier countries may consider fundraising a solidarity fee for students in other countries.
If I am going to WYD with another group, such as my diocese, can I still participate in the events of IYCS and IMCS?
- Yes!
- IMCS and IYCS will be helping to organize several events in collaboration with our national movements in Australia.
- If you are going with another group, please be sure to let them know before that you want to participate in the events of IMCS and IYCS, so that you will be allowed to attend. We will send you more information soon.
